B Ed, MA, PhD

I have been a mindfulness practitioner and educator for over 20 years. I have advanced training in Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness and teach mindfulness to large and small groups. I am a teacher educator and researcher in the Master of Teaching Program and in the Wellbeing Emphasis of the Curriculum and Pedagogy Program at OISE/University of Toronto. I teach Mindfulness in Education: Theory and Practice, Curriculum and Teaching in Literacy and Introduction to Special Education and Mental Health. My research interests include teacher education and development, mindfulness in education, early literacy and special education. I am currently studying the experiences of teacher educators who introduced mindfulness practices within their preservice courses. My research and teaching are informed by my former work as a public school elementary teacher. My most recent publication, Fostering Mindfulness, was released in 2019 through Pembroke Publishers. I was awarded the 2019 A Mindful Society Michele Chaban Spirit of Leadership Award for my work and research in the field of Mindfulness in Education.
